Starting your portrait
What is KoiFrame?
KoiFrame turns a short video of one real koi into a clear, professional portrait. The goal is to keep the individual koi recognisable while presenting it straight, centred and ready to share.
How does KoiFrame work?
Film your koi, upload the video and let KoiFrame analyse the clearest moments. The software creates and checks the portrait, then makes the finished image available for download.
What kind of video should I upload?
A 10–20 second video is ideal. Keep the complete koi in view with room around its head, tail and fins. Film calmly, avoid digital zoom and try to limit glare or strong reflections on the water.
View the complete video guideDo I need special equipment or need to sedate the koi?
No. A recent phone with a clean lens is enough, and the koi can keep swimming naturally. You do not need a studio camera, special lighting or a perfectly still fish.
Can I upload a video with several koi?
For the most reliable result, record one target koi per video and keep it clearly visible. Crowded footage, heavy overlap or several similar koi can make it harder to preserve the correct identity, so KoiFrame may ask for a clearer video.
Processing and results
Why does one portrait take around 3–5 minutes?
KoiFrame does more than capture one random video frame. It analyses many moments, selects useful views of the head, body, fins and tail, creates the portrait and checks the result. If the quality check finds a problem, an additional correction can take a little longer.
Do I need to keep the page open while KoiFrame is working?
No. Once your upload has been accepted, processing continues in the background. You can leave the page and return to your account later.
How will I know when my portrait is ready?
KoiFrame sends you a notification as soon as processing is complete. The finished portrait will also appear in your account, so you do not need to keep checking the processing screen.
What if I am not happy with the portrait?
Ask us to check it. If we confirm that KoiFrame made a software mistake, we add one extra portrait to your account at no extra cost. You can use it for any koi. If the source video does not show enough detail, we may instead ask you to upload a better video.
What counts as a software mistake?
Examples include a clearly changed pattern, a missing or incorrect fin, a distorted body or tail, or a technical processing failure. A detail that was hidden, blurred or not visible in the source video is not something the software can reconstruct reliably.
Privacy and your files
What happens to my video and the selected images?
Your files are handled privately and used to create, check and deliver your portrait. KoiFrame may select several clear frames from the video as references, but your source material is not published or shown to other customers.
How long are my files stored?
Source files are kept only for the time needed to create the portrait and handle the applicable review period. Finished portraits remain available according to your account or purchase agreement. The exact retention period will be shown before purchase, so no hidden or open-ended storage promise is made.
Will my koi images be used for marketing or AI training?
Not without your explicit permission. Your upload is for producing your portrait. If KoiFrame ever asks to use an example for marketing, research or quality improvement, that will be a separate and optional request.
Downloads and personalization
What do I receive when the portrait is finished?
You receive a high-resolution portrait with the koi straight, centred and presented on the recognisable KoiFrame blue. It is ready to download, keep, share or use in a koi listing.
Can I process many koi and add a logo, variety or size?
Yes. Anyone can choose a larger portrait pack, upload several koi and personalize one portrait or a complete collection. Add a logo, variety name, size or other information you want on the finished images.
