Before you film

A clear video gives you the best portrait.

Give KoiFrame a clean, unobstructed view of your koi. Ten to twenty seconds is enough.

Five simple checks

Give us a clear view of your koi.

You do not need special camera equipment. A recent phone with a clean lens is enough.

01

One koi, one video

Use a clean blue bowl with clear, calm water and film only one koi at a time.

02

Show the complete koi

Keep the nose, tail and both pectoral fins visible, with a little space around the koi.

03

Film steadily

Film from the head side at roughly a 55–60° angle. Do not film completely straight down.

04

Use soft, even light

Film in the shade or under a parasol. Avoid direct sun, glare, reflections and hard shadows.

05

Upload the original file

Use at least 1080p and 30 fps. Avoid filters, digital zoom and WhatsApp compression.

Keep the view clean

Small details make a big difference.

Let the koi swim naturally for a few seconds. The best moments show it straight, away from the bowl edge, with both fins visible and spread.

  • Digital zoom
  • Direct sunlight or glare
  • Hard shadows
  • Hands, nets or objects
  • Other koi in view
  • A dirty lens or cloudy water
Ready to begin?

Film one koi for 10–20 seconds.

Keep it complete, sharp and free from glare. That is all KoiFrame needs.
